Dear NACE Members:
It is with great honor that I am writing my first President's letter. As a member of NACE since 2000, this organization has helped me professionally and personally. It has afforded me with the tools to not only become knowledgeable in the hospitality industry in general, but has aided me in honing my personal growth in my company and my career. I am very excited about the upcoming two years as I hope you are. But no one's future is ever complete without looking back on their past, so lets talk about the year as to date.
2011 has started out as quite an exciting year for NACE. In January, we began with the wonderful induction of officers and overview of the NACE Foundation at the incredible venue The Royal House, then in February we moved to the Le Pavilion Hotel for a sold out luncheon with Alan Berg, Vice President of the Knot.
April found us at the Plant Gallery with a lovely wine seminar and tasting in the beautiful weather with NACE National Past President and Corporate Chef of Chef's Expressions Catering and Consulting Jerry Edwards. We followed up in May with a luncheon seminar on Southern cocktails at the Chateau Bourbon given by the knowledgeable Ann Teunerman from Tales of the Cocktail.
So what do we have in store for the membership next? In June we will be at the Riverview Room as our luncheon focuses on an upscale cooking experience for your clients. The New Orleans School of Cooking will present a unique approach to the standard cooking demonstrations. This is definitely a must for your entire staff as it will give them a chance to learn more about this new culinary class available.
Also, in July, we are off to the national conference in Reno, NV. Please feel free to call me or any other board member if you are interested in joining us there. The NACE national convention will be in New Orleans in 2012 and we are gearing up to bring a taste of the Crescent City to them in a major way. This is your opportunity to get in on the ground floor with these national and international caterers and event planners to showcase your venue or service. I hope that the entire chapter will be a part of this special opportunity.
The first half of the year may be almost over, but as they say, the best is yet to come. Let's have a good time together educating ourselves, networking with colleagues in the industry and most of all enjoying our hectic, sometimes frustrating, non-stop, but mostly rewarding industry.
Sincerely,
Tony Leggio
President, NACE New Orleans Chapter
